Important: Membership of the Canoe Club is renewable each year in March regardless of when you actually join. If you join in January or February, your membership will be current until the end of March of the following year.
- Fill out a membership form and pay the membership fee
When you fill out an online membership form, you will need to agree to this waiver and to the club rules. You will also need to make an online payment into the club bank account (details are in the online membership form). If necessary you can pay at a physical bank, and complete the form afterwards. Paypal payment is also an option.
- New members and lapsed members (over two years):
Complete two club inductions and bring your ID
Renewing members do not have to re-do the inductions unless they have not previously completed them, or are renewing after over two years absence.
New members need to complete two club induction sessions. The induction sessions will give you information to help you get the most out of your club membership, and for you to do this more safely. If you are unable to attend induction sessions or there are none scheduled, please contact the club using the enquiries email to arrange an alternative time. Renewing members are welcome to come along if they want a refresh, or just want to help out.
We will show you around the boat shed and explain where everything is kept, and what you need to do when you go for a paddle. We will also explain the club safety procedures and provide you with some very basic skills training. Finally, we will show you where to find out about trips, social activities and training sessions.
Please bring some identification (eg. student/staff card or driver's licence)
Once you have completed all the steps, you will be granted access to the shed, and will be ready to sign up for trips and potentially go for a river paddle whenever you want - depending on your abilities and confidence.
