Coomera island

A trip around and through Coomera island at the mouth of the Coomera river. We will leave from Paradise Point (northern Gold Coast), returning to the same place via Wasp Creek.

The trip leaves from Paradise point and follows the South Branch of the Coomera River up as far as Sanctuary Cove (approx 8 km), with the tide. We will then follow the north branch of the river for 3-4 km and stop for a break (against the tide). Later we will return by cutting across the mangroves through Wasp creek to reach the Broadwater (2 km), then return along the Broadwater to Paradise point.

Paddler Requirements✓ Conditions can be calm, but can change dramatically with winds and tides contributing significantly to this.
✓ Paddlers must advise leaders if they have health issues or injuries that may affect participation. Ensure medication is carried and is accessible. If unsure, they should check with their doctor beforehand.
✓ Participants must be familiar with, and have demonstrated, a wet exit and T-rescue (in a sea kayak) while a member of the club.
